Open Question: Closing for an essay?!?!?! HELP!!?
We have to do an essay on technology in english and i'm doing mine on the flaws of laptops and how to improve them, and I'm completely stumped for a closing. Here's what I have so far:
P.S. dont read it if it means you dont want to answer because you have to read a long thing. just skip to the bottom.
Laptops
Comptuters are a huge advance in the world today. They are useful for many things, like research, a source of entertainment, and even shopping. Society depends so much on computers, in fact, that it's difficult to imagine what life would be like without them now. And I agree, but there are many flaws that could be improved.
I'm going to start with durability. Why do some computers have to be so breakable? You could be typing up information for a project one minute, and be picking up the broken pieces of your laptop the next. There are some pretty durable computers out there, but, let's be reasonable. Not a lot of people can afford 2,000 dollar laptops.
I have always wanted a tablet PC, which if you don't know, is the laptop with the screen you can flip over and write on. I think it would be great if we could include this feature in a regular laptop or desktop computer, and with a push of a button you'd have a tablet PC. This is something I think could be invented in the future.
Something else I would include in a laptop if I could is a touch-screen feature. It already exists, but I find touch screen a bit annoying if you have no other choice. Pressing actual buttons is much better sometimes. It would be perfect if you could press a button for touch screen, and press it again to turn it off. It would give you a nice break from tapping on a screen every day.
Nothing is more annoying to me than when I'm working difficult on something, and I'm almost done, and then my laptop dies. Laptops would be much better if they never ran out of battery power and you never had to charge them. I'm pretty sure that is impossible right now, but I'm sure someone will invent it in the future.
Another idea of mine is to make every programs on other types of computers compatible with programs of their nice on other computers. For example: I'm on my home computer typing something for a project and I send it to myself to print at school, since I don't have a printer. The next day I go to receive it out of my inbox and print it, but it doesn't work because WordPad and NeoOffice aren't compatible. You could always copy and glue your work into the message instead, but that messes it up when you glue it back into another program and you'd have to fix everything before you print it. Who wants to go through that just to hand in an assignment?
Also, the price of most laptops nowadays is insane. Eventually, almost everyone is going to need a computer for one reason or another, and a lot of people can't afford them. More and more people are needing them, and the prices are going up.
And thats every. I know it sucks but I started it like 20 minutes ago and i will be doing some serious revising. as soon as i know what the heck im doing for an ending. Im also not very good at starting paragraphs, so if you could help with those id be extremley grateful.
and tell me what you think of the idea in general.
thanks :)

Open Question: Did your education at UTD's Arts & Technology program help you get a job?
I've been working overseas as a teacher for three years, and hold a BA in Asian Studies. I'm currently looking to shift fields into graphic/digital design. I've always kept up art as a background interest (didn't quite have enough credits for the minor in college) and now I want to go back to school to develop my skill to a professional level.
What were your experiences with the program good or bad? And did you feel it helped prepare you for the design job market?
Also, If I have a solid enough portfolio what are my chances of admission to the Graduate program? or should I start again at undergrad (really don't want to do that)

I got a netbook and it has "Windows 7 Starter" and I was wondering why I cannot set a picture as my desktop background? Or if I can, how do I go about doing it? I know this sounds stupid, and I'm usually not this dumb with technology, but I just can't figure it out! Do I have to download Windows 7 (not the Starter version) to do it? Thanks so much

Open Question: What effects can an electric shock have on a human being?
When I was about 6 years old, I was the kid that was fascinated by technology and things I didn't understand. I was in my dads workshop, I grabbed a screwdriver and took the face dish off the light switch and stuck my hand in. 240 volts startled me really badly, I dropped the screwdriver and screws and ran home with my finger in my other hand. Could this have had any effects on my body? Development, physical, psychological, neurological?
I'm 14 now.

Open Question: ..........what do i want to be?
i do not want to be someone who works for money, i want to do what i find fun, i do not want to have a boss, i adore nature, but only in the spring and fall, summer and winters are better spent indoors if it is too icy or hot.
i adore science, but i do not want to be a scientist, i just want to write about science. i adore animals, but i do not want to spend many hours cleaning up after them, although i want a pet raccoon. i would like to write about science, nature and such. but again, i do not want to have a boss that could flame me.
i do not want a big pay, i would be fine on less than 1000$ a month. i want only a moped to steer. and only a laptop and cell phone for technology.
i also like crafting, i like to knit, crochet, weave, macrame, sew, beadery, and such, and like to make bracelets, hats, scarves, and dolls. i also like to make rugs and such out of old worn-out clothing.
i adore to explore, but hate the feeling of being in danger, i will take tiny risks, but not big ones. i want to travel the world and research and photograph wildlife.
i want to do something that can require every of this, like being a self-employed researcher/writer and do crafts on the side.
what should i be?

Open Question: 15 Secret Fears of Men?
Men like to depict themselves as stable, simple, and strong, but underneath that rough exterior lies many secret fears. Some you may know, others you may not. These worries fall below the categories of medical, failure, self-image, and immortality. Following each category will be a few suggestions of things you can do to help bring some relief:
-----------------------------------------------------
MEDICAL
• Doctors - Men fear doctors. Some fear them so much, they will shrug off the majority of their aches and pains, as "nothing". A recent survey, however, indicates that men are 40 percent more likely to die from cancer because of their hesitance to seek medical attention at the first sign of trouble.
• Prostate - Beyond the occasional aches and pain, what men truly fear is any problem occurring down south. Prostate and testicular cancers are a big concern among men. In addition, most men fear their first prostate exam.
• Vasectomy - Going along with the general fear of doctors poking around in their genital region, most men fear the vasectomy as a form of birth control. Many would rather have their partner sterilized, even though the female tubal ligation is a much more invasive procedure.
• Erectile Dysfunction - And now we arrive to the pinnacle of men's medical concerns -- the fear of losing his ability to achieve and maintain an erection. Many men link their image of youth and manhood to their ability to engage in sex, and engage in it well. A man who cannot perform satisfactorily may not look himself as a worthy member of society.
How to Help: Men don't like to talk about this stuff with their partners. That is just a fact of life. However, if he knows you care about him, knows you are there to hear when he needs you, and knows are willing to support him every step of the way ... that's a good start.
FAILURE
• In His Relationships - In the beginning of a relationship, most men fear commitment. They fear the finality of it, loss of freedom, loss of space, and having only one sexual partner for the relax of their life. Men who are committed, fear failing in that commitment (cheating, etc.), getting a divorce, and dying alone.
• To be an Adequate Lover - This may occasionally tie into erectile dysfunction, but most every men fear being labeled as a lousy lover. While it is a common joke that men receive on top of their partner, do their thing, then roll off, and fall asleep, according to a national survey by Harris Interactive, men actually do care what their partner thinks about their performance.
• To be "the Best" She Ever Had - Men are very competitive with each other, and they always want to be better in bed than any other man their partner has been with. He may not arrive right out and ask if he is the only one who uses the "counter clock-wise swirl with a pinch ..." (Jerry Seinfeld reference), but you can be sure he's counting on it.
• At His Job - A man's success at his job and ability to provide for his family is always a number one concern. Men want to be a good hunter-gatherer, which means providing adequate comfort and security. A man who is living pay-check-to-pay-check is below a lot of stress, because he fears he will be labeled as a needy provider, and that is inexcusable in his eyes.
•To Rank Highly on Google - It may sound silly, but technology has brought men a new accomplishment to worry about, their ranking on a Google name-search. Many men secretly compare themselves to friends on Google, i.e., "Jerry is on one and a half pages, George on three and a quarter ... " Men fear not becoming an important contributor to society, and Google is a tangible confirmation of that fear.
How to Help: Even though it may seem more beneficial to discuss the problems in a relationship, some women forget that men need to know the good things, too. Men like to be the hero in their relationship, which means they want to know they are pleasing their partner in the bedroom, making her feel secure, loved, and taken care of. Men are not perfect, so we don't want to be lied to in order to make us feel better, but we do need to hear occasional compliments to go along with the criticisms.
SELF IMAGE
• Hair - Research indicates that well over 4 million men worldwide are using some sort of product(vitamins, monkey urine, Rogaine, Propecia) to battle their hair loss. Men are vein, proud, and feel perpetually 28-years-old until that moment they look in the mirror and look their aging, balding dad staring back at them.
• Body - Most men fear how their partner sees their body. They worry that their partner will think they are too hairy, too scrawny, too pale, too smelly, and most importantly, when the time comes to expose their manhood, how will it compare to her expectations. Deep down inside, no matter how big a man is, he wishes he was just a little bit bigger.
• Is He Still 'chilly' - Men fear losing their youth, and they also fear becoming 'uncool' in the eyes of their friends and loved ones
I was doing some research and I came cross on thos messages which is been posted by some one profesional on the internet, and I thought that I can share with every one, thank you so much for reading, and paying attention

greatest security we face."

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the

Open Question: How much is the yearly tuition for international students in the US?
Hello, I was planning to apply for Parsons, Fashion Institution of Design and Merchandising (FDIM) and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Even for US residents it's like $30,000. And for FIT, they don't offer financial support for international students.
I was wondering how much the yearly tuition would be for international students, including room and board.
They tell you the instate and outofstate tuitions on the website, but not for international students.
Also if you know, which university is the cheapest for international students (in the US) that has fashion design (and is pretty good)?

Open Question: Should i get a netbook?
I am a teenager. I am a fan of technology and computers and photography. About once a month, me and my uncle go somewhere and have a photography day out. He's an expert. I have a desktop (mainly for video and photo editing, used regually) and a laptop (used to be used often, but less as of the desktop, used for coursework and homework, basically anything related to school). I am thinking of getting a netbook for when i am on the move, for the photography trips, so i can look my photos better, do basic editing, and be able to go on the internet for checking news, etc. Should i receive one? Has to have a card reader, long battery life, and can take a few bumps there and here. Good brand needed (Dell, Asus, etc) and below £500 with a decent sized display with a Windows operating syetem. Thanks in advance!
Please mention sites where to receive the netbook with a link, if possible and also without a glossy cover, as it will receive damaged when being on the move. Thanks!

Open Question: Questions on Asian ethnicity!?
Hi, I was wondering some things about Asian ethnicity. For one thing, I would like to know what Asian culture is more open to other cultures, for and example, Spanish culture is nice because of the dance, food, and music, I also like Spanish culture because every the Spanish people I have met are very nice...or something like that. I wish you can satisfy my curiosity with good answers. And please don't put inmature, boring, stupid, or non-asian culture related things. And if you pick Japan or any other high-technology country don't say video game, anime, or something equally un necessary. Open Question: Should I get a second Bachelor's or a Master's?
I have a Bachelor's in Business from 1998. I went back to school and got an Associates in Computer Information Systems in 2009. Upon graduation I got hired in the software department as an Engineer for a government contractor. Great job and benefits. However to move up the ladder and apply for promotions I have to have an Engineering or Comp Science 4 year degree. I found a Master's degree in Computer Science but am worried I will be in over my head. I also found a program in Information Technology that will take my undergrad credits and allow me to receive another Bachelor's degree in 10 classes. Money is not the issue as I have tuition reimbursement...however, it would be an issue if in my Master's I do struggle and don't receive at least a B. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Open Question: Would you support creating a NATIONAL ID Card as part of "immigration reform"?
This sounds like a bad idea to me.
What do you think??
http://www.csmonitor.com/Commentary/the-monitors-view/2010/0309/Immigration-reform-rests-on-a-national-worker-ID
It is this corrosive wearing away of the rule of law in America that should be a prime concern as President Obama launches a new effort this month to fix the nation’s broken immigration system.
Mr. Obama faces rising pressure from Hispanic activists to fulfill a campaign promise for “comprehensive” reform. They plan a big rally in Washington March 21 to demand action. They know that any bill must start moving through Congress by May to stand a chance of passage this year.
And if lawmakers also fail to provide a “path to citizenship” for illegal immigrants, Hispanic groups plan to punish Democrats in the fall elections. After every, they argue, it is their increasing clout in US politics that helped put Obama in the White home.......................The idea is to require a national ID card for legal workers using the latest technology in preventing fraud, such as biometric data about a person’s fingerprints or the veins on the backs of hands. It would be a different nice of identification system than already exists with a Social Security card or with the federal effort since 2005 to standardize state driver’s licenses. And it would either supplant or supplement a current system called E-Verify, in which employers can check an applicant’s status through a federal database.
The problems with E-Verify have been many – it is voluntary, fails to flag many illegal workers, and is prone to fraud. Employers seeking low-wage workers have little incentive to use it.
Does anybody know if these proposed National IDs would include RFID chips like the new U.S. passports??

Open Question: Garmin Nuvi GPS with Bluetooth?
Not sure which model I'm getting - looking at the 265WT - but my question is whether people think the blue tooth technology in these units are worth it. I had blue tooth built in on my last car and I really liked it. But I no longer have that feature with my car and am wondering whether a GPS with blue tooth is a good alternative.
every thoughts on the subject are appreciated - every recommendations of units to consider are also appreciated!

Open Question: IT specialization. Virtualization or Security?
I'm graduating with a degree in Management Information Systems. I have good grades (3.9GPA) and want to start thinking about a career path.
I look two huge potentials for the future... but I'm not sure which would be the BEST path in terms of job security, salary, growth, etc.(especially salary)
I'm interested in both but would like to receive some feedback on what other IT professionals may suggest.
So my top two career choice options are (according to my interests):
A. Virtualization Technologies -VMware, Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V, etc., ( Certifications; VCDX, CCEE, etc.,)
B. Security -System security, Firewalls, Network infrastructure, ccess control, etc., (Certifications; Security+, CCNA Security, ISC2, CISSP, etc.,)
Your feedback is appreciated!
